🎃🪲 DESIGN DETAILS
BeetleJack is a psychedelic character mashup of Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice from Beetlejuice.
The idea started with Jack deciding he's had enough of Oogie Boogie's games. Instead of continuing to play by Oogie's rules, Jack channels his inner Beetlejuice and decides it's time to play a game of his own.
And Jack doesn't just dress like Beetlejuice—he completely commits to the role. 👻
The design depicts Jack cosplaying Beetlejuice, specifically inspired by the iconic scene where Beetlejuice's unmistakable black-and-white striped suit transforms into a wild carousel with flashing lights.
Jack wears his own psychedelic version of the carousel hat while taking over Oogie Boogie's lair. Oogie's game board and dice are worked into the artwork as accents, tying the entire revenge-game storyline together.
🪱🎩 THE CHAOS IS IN THE DETAILS
Look closely and you'll find a whole lot happening around Jack.
The Beetlejuice sandworm weaves in and out of the design, wrapping itself around Jack and eventually grabbing Oogie Boogie in its mouth.
And where exactly is Oogie?
He's dangling from the carousel hat Jack is wearing. 😂
Jack's loyal pup Zero is positioned on the opposite side of the carousel hat, giving the composition another little detail to discover.
Also incorporated is the signature black-and-white stripes into the sandworm and sections of the carousel hat, tying those recognizable Beetlejuice-inspired elements back into Briz's own visual style.
🌟🖤 STARRY BACKDROP
BeetleJack in the Dark
For this version of the design, BeetleJack is placed against a plain black starry background.
Instead of using one large repeating star pattern, the stars are scattered individually across each product panel. This creates a more natural-looking field of stars and gives the impression that BeetleJack is floating through outer space.
The black backdrop also makes the neon colors of the artwork pop, letting the psychedelic details, stripes, sandworm, carousel, and characters become the stars of the show. 🌟
🌀🎨 NEON HALLOWEEN CHAOS
BeetleJack was originally created as a remake of an older piece Briz made several years earlier. The original version used much more muted, boring colors.
When she brought BeetleJack back, she decided it needed a serious Brizbazaar makeover.
This version is loaded with colorful neon energy, transforming the characters and Halloween imagery into the psychedelic style that has become such a big part of Briz's artwork.
BeetleJack became part of the first Halloween collection/design release in 2021, making this design an early part of the Brizoween era.

His matching counterpart is Lydallyia, another character mashup that combines the worlds of Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

🎨🪲 THE STORY BEHIND BEETLEJACK
"BeetleJack started as a piece I created several years ago, but the original version never quite captured the colorful psychedelic energy I wanted from the concept.
When I decided to remake it, I completely transformed the color palette with vibrant neon colors and brought the artwork much closer to my signature Brizbazaar style." -Briz
The new BeetleJack became part of the first Brizoween Halloween collection/design release in 2021.
The story behind it is simple:
Jack got tired of Oogie Boogie's games.
So Jack decided to channel his inner Beetlejuice, take over Oogie's lair, and finally play a game on Oogie instead.
And naturally, he needed a sandworm, a carousel hat, a few dice, his dog Zero, and a dangling Oogie Boogie to make the whole thing interesting.
It's Jack's turn to play. 🎲🖤
